n the Skin Tattoo and Piercing Studio is the best tattoo and piercing business in the area, according to Advocate readers.
The seed was first planted in Gayle Austin's head when she went to get a tattoo in New Orleans in 1996. Her tattoo artist put the stencil on crooked and exhibited poor customer service.
It was then that Austin and her husband, Tom, decided to open their own tattoo parlor.
"For people to get a tattoo or a piercing, they have to feel like you care and that they can trust you," said Austin. "It's a big measure of trust for someone to let you into their personal body space."
The husband-and-wife business partners have been in business for 12 years now, and have even seen a 10 to 15 percent clientele growth over the last couple of years.
