Body Works Tattoo began on a lottery ticket and a dream. Chris won $5,000 on a ticket at a local convenience store. With a portion of the prize money, he bought a car which never made it more than 400 miles without $400 of work. With the rest of the money, he bought Crystal tattoo equipment and she practiced on their friends, until one day a friend went to a local shop and got a tattoo and the owner asked who had done the other tattoo on her. She told him Crystal. From there Crystal got a job. The owner of the shop allowed Chris to do piercings. Crystal suggested training Chris to tattoo so they would have more artists. Chris trained and worked for 3 years and in 1998 Chris and Crystal opened their own shop and Body Works was born.
A couple of years later, Chris and Crystal decided to open the 406 Grand Avenue location. Four years later, the doors were opened on their 2nd location at 701 24th St W. The second location bought Body Works to the full meaning of its name, because it offered not only Tattoos, but Piercings, a clothing store full of tattoo related clothing and apparel and a Hair Salon that does mild to wild color, cuts and braids.
In April Body Works will be closing the doors on its first location. The location at 701 24th St. W. will be the only location. We offer 6 Tattoo Artists, and 2 Body Piercers for your Body Work needs.
