Luxury brand loyalty is purchasing the latest renditions of your Chanel 2.55 handbag, Hermes Birkin, or the Louis Vuitton monogram tote. But why carry the burden of love when you can simply slap the famous design where people will really see it? With the sudden buzz surrounding temporary tattoos — thanks no doubt to Chanel’s effort in making it haute — Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton are taking it to the streets and to your neck. That’s right, lets test your brand loyalty now.
Louis Vuitton’s neck tattoo takes a gothic approach thanks to its collaboration with New York-based artist Scott Campbell, according to a news post on High Snobriety. Premiered at the brand’s Spring 2011 menswear fashion show, one design that sticks out in particular is the monogram because really, wouldn’t the line lose its cohesiveness without it?
Our white flags are waving in this loyalty game, because we can’t see ourselves pimping out mock designer tattoos with confidence — but is there a potential market for this? Ask the Suicide Girls or Boston hardcore record label Bridge 9, they’re very familiar and long fond of the been-around-for-ages-art of ink.
So once again, the streets beat the runways, but if temporary neck tattoos really do go haute, then we’ll be waiting for the photos of Daphne Guiness roughing it up LV style at a dingy bar venue.
