This program was created to require persons who own body piercing establishments to maintain a level of sanitation in the facility and a level of sterilization in the equipment used to reduce the possibility of transmitting disease through the body piercing procedure. The program also requires persons performing body piercing to be licensed and to have attended a training session on bloodborne pathogens, which is approved by Department. The citizens of Oklahoma will benefit through an attempt to provide training of those performing tattooing & body piercing, sanitation of facilities, and sterilization of equipment.
