It's fun to see how different players spent their summer vacations. Some spend them playing for the U.S. National Team, others just work out. Sometimes players get married or travel, but Chris Andersen(notes) has another hobby that he enjoys during the NBA break — getting tattoos. Check his neck, the picture on the left is from before last season, and the one on the right is from Sunday.
As far as I can tell, that's a "Free" on one side and a "Bird" on the other. Clearly he's a big Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. That's too bad.
Judging from the rest of his body, I'd say this little neck piece is just getting started. I mean, every other tattoo is in full-color, I'd imagine this one will be eventually. And really, you can't blame him for wanting to split up several million needle-sticks to the neck into a couple different sessions. That's just good planning.
However, I'm a little bit worried about the Birdman. No, not because he's going to have a neck tattoo for the rest of his life. I'm worried about him wanting more tattoos. He's almost out of room, and if DeShawn Stevenson(notes) has taught us anything, it's that face tattoos are horrible.
