Mario Sedillo's Story
I love to draw and have been drawing since I was a child.
When I started tattooing, I would tattoo on my friends. Every time they would see my drawings, they would ask for tattoos or paneo's.
I started my career as a full-time truck driver who tattooed on the side. One day, I finally looked at my figures and saw how much money I was making tattooing. I knew that I could make more money creating tattoos than I ever would as a truck driver, which led to the question, should I tattoo for a living or keep driving a semi-truck? I did not want tattooing to start feeling like a job because I love the art of tattooing. It was a hobby that took me away from one world and put me into another where I could create whatever I wanted and bring it to life. Tattooing brought peace to my heart.
My decision was made and today, 20 years later, I am still tattooing away! I named my shop Mijo's Tattoos after my three sons. I also have two daughters, three grandkids, and my wife's daughter which gives me 3, 3 and 3! It makes my lucky number 9.
Everything I have, including my family and my talent for tattooing are a blessing from Christ, my savior, and my parents. I could not have asked for any better.
Though many speak of hard times, I always choose to speak about the positive side of life. My son is now 18 and has also picked up a tattoo machine. He is doing well and I'm extremely proud of him. His goals are to go to college and I hope that God blesses him in his choice, whether to go to college or to tattoo or to do anything he puts his mind to.
As for the team at Mijo's Tattoos, we are not only strong, but unique in our own ways.
Ricky Valdez handles the airbrush and fine arts. He is a great artist all around. Tattoos are in his blood pumping out ink. (Great respects to Rick).
Eric Sedillo and Matt Lopez are the newest in our team. They are young blood in the tattoo world, but also great artists. They are definitely a must to see
