If you head to your home after having a tattoo, do not have a bath right away as it may spoil it. You should allow the tattoo to dry for a day and then should clean it every hour to make it settle firmly. While you clean, keep your hands clean to safeguard yourself from any infection.
Use a tube of ointment from A&D to keep your tattoo away from infection. Continue using the ointment for at least a week. Wipe out the layer formed upon the tattoo after it is fully dried up and then again apply another layer of ointment. While wiping the dried layer, be sure that you don’t injure the area more or rub the tattoo away. You can use soap also.
After week of continuous using of ointments, you can stop it. Now, you can use body lotion that has got no scent in them. The body lotion having scent will make the skin under the tattoo to get irritated and leads to damage of the tattoo also.
After you have used the lotion for a few days, you can stop using it. Most tattoos, after they have healed, tend to leave a scab in some areas. If your tattoo has a scab, you should be careful when you try to pick it. If you aren't careful, you could end up damaging your design. The best thing to do is you have a scab is to leave it alone. You can put A&D ointment on it if you want, as most of the time a scab will itch.
You can remove the tattoo only if you are ready to undergo a surgery, else it will be there on you till the end. Follow the above instructions to keep your tattoo healthy and free from infection.
